She's been asleep for 3 days!

We had an uneventful night. Ivy's color looks great though she is still really puffy! Probably just a side effect of heart failure. The plan is to get her off the ventilator some time today. Lots of you have asked how I am holding up. I really am doing great. Had another great sleep and great shower in the parent sleep suites. God is providing for every single need. Ivy has had 3 days of rest, the doctors have had 3 days to really think about and ponder on her case, her body has had antibiotics doing their thing since the fever appeared, and her right coronary artery has had 3 days to show us if its going to continue to allow blood flow, or not. She is on lots of heparin to help with that. This timing was Gods all along. Even highly ranked surgeons from Boston have to abide by Gods timing. And as you all know, our baby girl likes to keep everyone on their toes! We are so blessed!!

  1. I am in constant prayer for you guys! I went to bed thinking of her, and I awoke thinking of her. I admire your strength, and your courage which I'm sure you draw from the Lord!!! Please know that Ivy Joy has touched my family's heart, and that in a little house in Somerset, KY her name is on our fridge as a constant reminder that God is good, even in the bad....much love coming your way!

  2. Wow, three days asleep sounds scary, but it's His will for sure. Praying hard for everybody. Your Mama's heart, Lexie, the doctors, and everyone else who has to make decisions.

    Blessings,

  3. Yes she does like to keep us on our toes!! That kind of spunk will serve her well!!! I'm thankful you have been getting some sleep! You just said what Hank and I were saying last night, that God knows what his timing is, we don't.

  5. Thank you all!!!!! We find such comfort in every comment and such rest when we know there is one more person, on more family, one more church or school, lifting our daughter up to the One who made her just the way He did! I get all my strength from Him, but I am always encouraged through my day by you all. From the depths of my soul, thank you!!!!!

  7. Good morning Mary. So glad Ivy's little body has gotten the rest needed to kick the infection and prepare her for surgery. Glad to know you are doing well and the Father has you wrapped in his arms. We are praying for dear Ivy and all of you through this. We so look forward to your coming home and Ivy all healthy. Alexandria loves looking at photo's of Ivy and Lexi online. We wanted to send some cards and I cannot recall if you have an address where we can send them at the hospital? Please let us know so we can get some cute cards for Ivy. God Bless you all!

  8. Thank you for the update! It's great to hear from you and I'm glad that you are hanging in there so well. The love, courage, joy and strength you and precious Ivy display is truly inspiring. May Ivy Joy's rest give her the healing strength she needs and give the doctors time to make the best plan. The Ditmars Family will be keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

  11. Hi Mary,
Thank you for the update. Diana posted the most adorable picture of Ivy standing up holding someone's hand in her little hospital gown ...smiling ever so sweetly. Little one is such a fighter and oh so beautiful!! It is a beautiful weekend in my neck of the woods and I suspect it is lovely in Boston as well. You need a nice cup of hot tea or Starbucks to enjoy this weekend. Perhaps a stroll outside as well to renew your strength. Praying for you guys!!
