Ivy continues to just blow me away! She is getting so much more confident. She is always happy, always content! She laughs all the time and even snorts! She loves to be kissed and tickled and she loves to go out and about.
We spent from 9-3 at the safari park today and she loved it! She is however terrified of animals!!! So she took a few naps in the fresh air and enjoyed the ride in her ergo. When she saw me grab a branch of leaves that Emily had been feeding the giraffe she started screaming! Screaming for Ivy is odd and Jill told me she thought it was because she was afraid of the giraffe. I thought, no way, Im not even by the giraffe yet. Sure enough as soon as I got near the giraffe she started to cry and kick her legs. I dropped the leaves and she stopped. I walked near an animal and she cried again! She is smart. She put the 2 together before I even thought anything of it. Because she is such a bitty thing, I forget that she is 21 months old and she does not miss a beat.
She so badly wants to be a normal kid. She wants to get down and walk. She wants to do what the other toddlers do. She watches them and you can tell that watching kids play has been her way of playing. She guards herself well, she knows when she is exhausting herself. She knows that crawling takes her less energy than walking so after a few steps she will almost always change over to crawling. Tonight she crawled around the room and then just fell over in exhaustion. She gets very blue very quick and she happily cuddles in my arms and rests when Mama says no more! It breaks my heart. But soon, very soon, she will be climbing on the furniture and jumping off the ottoman with her sister!!
We had a nice dinner at Lucy's tonight. "Tiny Miss" ate 1 bowl of Chicken Congee, 3/4 of a piece of cod, 3 fries, a bowl of cheerios and lots of Lucy's Iced Tea! She then came home and asked for her can of pringles! Mama said no so she dug up some Hershey bar from her brothers back pack and made herself a big mess!!
Before bed we went out to do a little shoe shopping. The girl LOVES shoes!!!
And we bought her a new ride so she can roll like the big girls!!!Thank you to everyone who has privately emailed me and posted here letting me know they are praying for Ivy! It is what has gotten us this far and it will continue to bless us as we move on to journey number 2 (Ivy's Surgery). Thank you Jill C for being such a positive blessing to us here in China! Thank you Emily for being the best 9 year old traveler on the planet!

Mary,
ReplyDeleteThis sweet post made me cry! I am committed to praying for your "Little Miss!" For her protection, and for the wisdom and gifted doctors, surgeons, and nurses that will soon be blessed to care for Ivy and for you!:) I am just so thankful that God placed her in your loving hands.. This beautiful bonding she is doing is such a gift as you prepare for the next chapter.. She trusts you already, and that will benefit you greatly for whatever is ahead!! When you talked about her just watching other children play it breaks my heart. But, I know and believe soon young children will be watching and learning from Ivy. She is going to bless so many by her loving story! The photos are precious. Of course it is killing me to not be the one having a chance to photograph her too... I can't wait for that day! Hopefully soon! She is beautiful on the inside and out. Just like her amazing Mama!
Love you!
Di
What a sweetie! She looked to be in shoe heaven in that photo! Praying for you guys.
ReplyDeleteIvy looks so content! She's all girl!
ReplyDeleteWhen you posted about Ivy knowing her limits and how she crawls to save energy, it just reminded me how sick her little body is right now, and how we need to CONTINUE to prayer diligently for her. We have already been praying God's hedge of protection of her body and her fragile organs, that He will sustain her until she is home and getting her much need surgery, and that when she is in their care, that the hands of her surgeons and caregivers will simply be a vessel that God Himself is working through. I know she is going to be a light and walking, living testimony for so many! It's already been just beautiful to see what a mama's love can do for her ~ she glows! Sending lots of love and hugs your way and know we continue to think of you daily and will keep you in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see the great support system you have from all angles, knowing that you are never alone and that others area walking this journey with you, even if not in the flesh. Give your precious cutie a smootch for me!!
Blessings and Hugs to all of you!
~ Tanya
Praying for your sweet beautiful baby daily. I stand amazed by God's touch in her little life and yours. Hang in there, you are lost home to get her the help she needs! Our family will continue praying!
ReplyDeleteI echo diana's sweets words. What a privilidge it has been to walk along side you in prayer. You have encouraged my spirit. The Lord has great plans for Ivy and I look forward to seeing him heal and repair this sweet little girls heart. These little ones are fighters and she will amaze those doctors you watch. I love the sweet moments you are already experiencing. Hannah was deathly afraid of animals until just recently. I thought she would never get over it but in time like everything else she did, Love you and hope you know we are all here for you.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think it was possible for her to get any cuter...but she is more and more precious with each post! What a sweet angel you have!! Praying for all of you!!
ReplyDeleteReading about how blue she get's really is a great reminder that we need to stay on our knee's and continue to pray for her health and protection until she is home for surgery.
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful, inside and out. You can totally see her personality in her eyes...AND IT"S SO CUTE! I can't wait to see her running, jumping, doing the things that her heart is longing for!
